An investigation is underway in Louisiana after an infant was found dead in a vehicle on Tuesday.
WAFB reported that the 6-month-old, who was found dead in East Baton Rouge, was left in the car all day. It is believed a parent went to work and forgot to drop off the baby at daycare — only to go to the daycare and realize the baby spent the whole day in their car.
No charges have been filed as of Wednesday. The deceased infant has not been publicly identified.
So far, 17 children have died in hot cars this year. According to No Heat Stroke, 29 children died of vehicular heatstrokes in 2023.
