Florida Man Lied to Sister That Police Ruled His Killing Estranged Wife Was Self-Defence

A Florida man was arrested for the murder of his estranged wife last week after telling his sister “a fictitious story” that he’d killed her but it was self-defense.

Timothy Kramer, 51, has been charged with the first degree murder of Rosa Kramer and aggravated animal cruelty for shooting his own dog in the mouth.

The dog survived its wounds, the Pensacola News Journal reported.

According to an a arrest report, Rosa Kramer had moved out of the home she shared with her husband two weeks earlier and was living with her father. On July 23, she told her sister and father she was going back to the Escambia County home she once shared with her husband to retrieve belongings.

When she didn’t return to take their father to a medical appointment and she received suspicious messages purportedly from Rosa Kramer via social media, Kramer’s sister called police.

Escambia County deputies didn’t find either of the Kramers at the home, but they traced Timothy Kramer’s cell phone to an address in Milton that turned out to belong to his sister, and that’s where they found him. The sister told police that her brother had called and said he shot and killed Rosa Kramer in self defense.

Officers saw text messages between the two in which Timothy Kramer told his sister he had called 911 and reported the shooting, that deputies came and investigated, ruling the shooting self defense — none of which was true. He also asked his sister to hide him and lie about his whereabouts if law enforcement asked.

Deputies, meanwhile, went back to the Escambia County house with a search warrant and found Rosa Kramer shot to death in a bedroom. She had two apparent gunshots, one of which was a through shot to the head.

Deputies wrote in the report that Kramer told his sister “a fictitious story” that “lead her to believe he was not in any trouble regarding the incident.”

Police have not found the firearm associated with the murder and initially reported Timothy Kramer’s dog had died. They later said the dog recovered, the News Journal reported.

Kramer is being held without bond, jail records show.
