Son & Grandson Charged in Connection With Death and Dismemberment of 75-Year-Old Ohio Man

Three people have now been charged in connection with the death of a 75-year-old Ohio man whose death was discovered when a Trotwood resident found his legs in trashbags at the end of their driveway.

The rest of Edgar Keiter Sr’s remains were later found in storage unit in April, WOIO reported.

His son, Edgar Keiter Jr,, 52, was charged in May with gross abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence, and theft. Keiter Jr’s girlfriend, 40-year-old Amanda Reiff, was indicted in early July with complicity to commit tampering with evidence and complicity to commit gross abuse of a corpse.

Reiff reportedly told a witness that her boyfriend stabbed the elder Keiter to death and put his body in the storage unit and that she was probably going to have to help move the body because Keiter Jr. was in jail and the odor in the storage unit was growing.

Neither has been charged directly with Keiter Sr’s death, nor was the third suspect, the 75-year-old’s grandson, Tygan Keiter. Tygan Keiter was charged with four counts of tampering with evidence for allegedly sending texts and making calls from his grandfather’s phone to make it look like he was still alive.

According to a statement of facts, Tygan Keiter told detectives he spoke with his father about “trying to make Keiter Sr. put Tygan on his will.” Keiter Jr reportedly told his son he would kill Keiter Sr. if he didn’t put the younger Keiter on the will.

Tygan Keiter also told investigators he went to his grandfather’s house and saw him dead on the floor “with a knife through his chest.”

It’s not clear why no one has been charged with Keiter Sr.’s death.

Keiter Jr. is due in court again on August 13, his son and Reiff are due back in court on August 20.
