‘Voluntarily Missing’ Woman Is Found Dead in Ocean Weeks After Disappearance

A body discovered in the ocean on Monday has been identified as a California woman who vanished late last month.

Tulare police said the U.S. Coast Guard was conducting a routine patrol and found Tiffany McClure, 47, off the coast of Morro Bay. Foul play is not suspected in her death, though an autopsy is pending, according to The Tribune.

Surveillance footage from July 22 showed McClure’s car at the beach in Morro Bay. The vehicle was reportedly found there two days later, legally parked in a residential parking spot.

McClure was considered voluntarily missing. Reports indicated that she had contacted family a day before her last sighting at Morro Bay, which is more than two hours from where she lives.

Tulare police said GPS was used to trace McClure’s car to Morro Bay. At the time, they conducted searches on foot and with drones but found no sign of her.

Anyone with information about this case should call Tulare Detective Leonel Alvarez at 559-685-2300 ext. 2149 or the Morro Bay Police Department at 805-781-4550.
