Minnesota Woman Stabs Ex-Boyfriend to Death, Tells Cops She’d ‘Kill Him Again’

A 47-year-old Minnesota woman has been charged with stabbing her ex-boyfriend to death over the weekend, telling police she “would kill him again” while on her way to jail.

The Moorhead Police Department said they responded to a home on Sunday and found Willard DeGroat Jr., 47, with a stab wound to his chest. He was taken to Sanford Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The suspect, Connie Jo Frank, returned to the scene, where she was taken into custody and charged with second degree murder.

A criminal complaint says that a witness told police that Frank was DeGroat’s ex-girlfriend and that the two had been arguing earlier on Sunday, KSTP reported. The witness said he saw a physical confrontation and went to find Frank’s adult son to intervene between the two. When they returned, they found DeGraot with a stab wound. Frank left the scene.

She returned, however, while police were investigating and was taken into custody. En route to jail, she reportedly told officers “I stabbed his a**” and “I would kill him again,” the complain says.

Court documents say that she and DeGroat dated for about five years but that she had moved out and in with her son. On the day of the murder, she said DeGroat had come to her son’s house and begun knocking on windows. She allegedly told investigators that she was tired of him and “someone had to end it,” so she took and kitchen knife and stabbed him in the chest.

After the stabbing, she said she hid in a neighbor’s backyard but decided to come back and speak with police.

The documents say that investigators found a knife near the scene and surveillance video that showed Frank yelling at DeGroat and DeGroat yelling for someone to call 911 because he was dying.
