A Silver Alert issued for an Indiana infant has been canceled after the child was found deceased.
Three-month-old Jacob Moneus was reported missing Saturday around noon in Lafayette, prompting a Silver Alert due to the “extreme danger he was believed to be in,” according to Lafayette police.
Early Sunday morning, police found the infant dead.
Detectives have not yet released any information regarding the location, suspects, or the cause of death.
“The investigation into the circumstances surrounding Jacob’s death is ongoing, and the Lafayette Police Department’s Detective Division is actively working the case,” Lafayette Police stated in a news release.
Officials indicated that additional details will be shared as they become available.
“This is a devastating development, and our thoughts are with Jacob’s family during this incredibly difficult time,” police said.
“The Lafayette Police Department is committed to conducting a thorough investigation to determine the events that led to this tragedy.”
