Indiana Mom of 3 Shot Dead at Her Apartment Early Saturday

A 25-year-old Indiana man has been arrested for the shooting death of his girlfriend, a 25-year-old mother of three.

New Albany Police Chief Todd Bailey told WDRB that his officers responded to a home at 5 a.m. on a report about a shooting. They found Kaitlynn Lee inside and took her to the University of Louisville Hospital in Kentucky, where she later died.

Joshua Thompson was charged with murder.

A neighbor told the station that Lee had recently moved in with a friend to get away from Thompson.

“My dad and her grandpa are really good friends,” said the neighbor, who asked to remain anonymous. “It’s such a tragedy to witness all of this.”

The hardest part, the neighbor said, was thinking about Lee’s children.

“For them to not have a mom anymore,” she said. “Domestic violence is just so real. It’s just a tragedy. She was trying to flee from this man.”
