A Florida elementary school teacher was arrested last week for allegedly sending sexual messages to a 14-year-old via an app.
Deltona Elementary School teacher Michael Ronald Iannaccone, 47, knew the teen was underage, the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office said.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies were notified by the Hernando County School District on August 5 that the 14-year-old had “come forward” with the allegations. The deputies confirmed the teacher’s identity and “continued online conversations with the suspect, using the student’s account.”
In the course of those communications, Iannaccone allegedly discussed various sex acts. Investigators also discovered that some of conversations took place while Iannaccone was at work.
Deputies made the arrest a few days later, and Iannaccone admitted knowingly discussing sex acts with a juvenile over the app. He has been charged with transmission of material harmful to a minor by electronic device and unlawful use of a two-way communication device.
He was booked into the Hernando County Detention Center and promptly released on a $4,500 bond, according to jail records.
