Suspect Charged With Killing Girlfriend Found Off Embankment Now Implicated in Another Homicide

Officials said on Thursday that California woman who vanished earlier this month was found dead in Nevada in what authorities are investigating as a homicide.

Placer County police said a drone was used to locate Patricia Portella-Wright’s body off an embankment near Mt. Rose Highway in Washoe County. Portella-Wright’s boyfriend, Brent Clifford has been booked into jail in connection with her presumed murder, according to KCRA .

Portella-Wright, 48, was last seen on August 4, though she was not reported missing until August 9 after she did not show up for work.

KCRA reported that Clifford is the suspect in another homicide, which occurred in Reno, Nevada. In that case, a 68-year-old man was found fatally shot two days before Portella-Wright was reported missing.

According to SFGate, Clifford was apprehended in Portola while driving in a car belonging to the male victim.

Clifford was allegedly the last person seen with Portella-Wright. Authorities have not provided additional information about the 68-year-old’s slaying or Clifford’s relationship to him.
