A 10-month-old girl in Louisiana died on Wednesday, a day after she was reportedly left in a hot car for 90 minutes.
The infant, who has not been publicly identified, was hospitalized in Jennings in critical condition. In light of her death, police claimed the girl’s mother said she was called into work and accidentally left her in the vehicle, according to KATC.
The mother has not been criminally charged as of Friday, but Jennings Police Chief Danny Semmes said the case has been forwarded to prosecutors — who will determine whether charges will be filed.
Twenty-three children have died in hot cars this year. According to No Heat Stroke, 29 children died of vehicular heatstrokes in 2023.
