An Iowa man is facing criminal charges for allegedly shooting his father on Sunday.
David Carpenter, 48, reportedly called the police and said he shot his father in the face at a Burlington home. The victim, who suffered non-life threatening injuries, claimed he was arguing with Carpenter about his “stinky feet” when Carpenter got a gun from the bedroom and shot him, according to the Fort Madison Daily Democrat.
Carpenter allegedly told cops that his father told him his “feet stink,” which sparked an argument about other family issues. Carpenter claimed his father threatened to shoot him during the row, Fort Madison Daily Democrat reported.
Carpenter allegedly admitted to getting a gun from his bedroom, but he said he accidentally shot his father when brandishing the gun from behind his back.
Two children were reportedly in the home at the time of the shooting.
