Body camera footage released by Tulsa police captures the moment Rachel Morin’s alleged killer is found at an Oklahoma bar, following a months-long search.
The video, obtained by The Baltimore Sun, shows officers entering the Los Dos Amigos Sports Bar in Tulsa, approaching three men, then escorting 23-year-old Victor Martinez-Hernandez outside, where they handcuff him.
“It’s possible that he’s in there and he’s sitting at the bar,” a Tulsa officer said before they entered the bar at around 10:45 p.m. June 14.
Martinez-Hernandez initially tells officers his name is Juan Carlos and claims he doesn’t have a cellphone or ID. Officers identify him by his teeth using a photo, and another man outside the bar hands an officer a cellphone that Martinez-Hernandez confirms as his, providing the passcode.
Police then take his picture and ask if he is from El Salvador. Around 45 minutes later, police take him to jail.
As CrimeOnline previously reported, police said Morin was found dead on August 6, 2023, off the Ma and Pa Heritage Trail in Harford County, Maryland.
Maryland State Police examined the DNA left at the crime scene and processed it in the CODIS database. The DNA came back as a match for a man under suspicion for breaking into a Los Angeles home and assaulting a young girl in March 2023.
Harford County Sheriff Jeff Gahler said the breakthrough in the case came when DNA evidence uncovered the suspect’s identity. Investigators subsequently tracked Martinez-Hernandez to Oklahoma and obtained an arrest warrant.
Gahler said Martinez-Hernandez crossed into the US illegally in February 2023, a month after he allegedly killed a woman in his home country. While US Immigration and Customs Enforcement has placed a detainer on him, Gahler said he will face charges in Maryland and California before being deported.
In July, Martinez-Hernandez was indicted on charges of first and second-degree murder, first and second-degree rape, third-degree sex offense, and kidnapping,
