A Washington state man already wanted for questioning in connection with a deadly fire in Concrete earlier this month is now wanted for murder after the three victims were found to have died from gunshot wounds.
Mount Vernon Police had identified Jason M. Birman, 49, in connection with the fire, saying they believed he had been at the home in the time leading up to the fire, KOMO reported.
Birman’s wife, 52-year-old Erin Birman, her 19-year-old son Taylor Dawson, and his 18-year-old girlfriend Jillian Whitney Van Boven were all found dead after the fire.
Mount Vernon Police Lt. Mike Moore said they named Jason Birman a person of interest once they realized he was not dead with the other victims.
When the Skagit County Coroner’s Office found the other three had been shot, police issued an arrest warrant for Birman on three counts of second degree murder.
Birman’s blue 1994 Chevrolet pickup truck, with Washington plate number C67636L, is unaccounted for.
The 2-story home in Concrete burned to the foundation and collapsed on August 9. The fire department responded to the call just before 10:30 a.m. that morning.
