A former south Alabama beauty queen awaiting trial in a murder-for-hire plot against her husband in the Bahamas has accused her latest boyfriend of abusing her.
In a protection order filed against 35-year-old Dorsey Ryan Love last month, Lindsay Shiver accused him of throwing her onto a bed, choking her, and putting a pillow over her face, WDHN reported.
Love was arrested on July 31. according to jail records, two days after Shiver filed for the protection order and nearly a week after the incident took place. She also said he abused her on a trip to Florida several weeks earlier, but she did not report that incident to police.
“He threatened to kill me,” she wrote in the request.
Shiver is accused of conspiring with her Bahamian lover to kill former Auburn University football player Robert Shiver, now a Georgia insurance executive, as CrimeOnline reported. The couple lived in Georgia and shared a home in the Bahamas at the time. Shiver was initially released on bond and ordered to stay in the Bahamas until trial, but late last year a judge allowed her to stay with her family in Alabama until the trial, which has been postponed twice and is now set to begin in October.
Shiver’s Bahamian boyfriend, Terrance Bethel, and his friend, Faron Newbold, were also charged in the plot. All three were arrested at the same time and later released on bond.
