A 25-year-old North Carolina man has been charged with murder after he drove a semi-truck into a group of people outside a Florida strip club last week, killing one and injuring two others.
Dylan Fogle was also charged with two counts of attempted murder, vehicular homicide, two counts of DUI with serious bodily injury, and one count of DUI manslaughter, the Tampa Police department said.
The incident took place just after 4:15 a.m. on Tuesday. Fogle had been kicked out of the Emperors Gentleman Club in Tampa for inappropriate behavior and came back in the truck, ramming into a group of people standing at the entrance.
Giovanni Soto was pronounced dead at the scene. The other two male victims had serious injuries but have since been released from the hospital.
Fogle was taken to a hospital for treatment of his own injuries, and doctors determined that his blood alcohol content was above the legal limit of 0.08.
In court, a detective said that Fogle sent text messages after he was kicked out of the club about “wanting to hurt somebody or run somebody over,” WTVT reported
Prosecutors showed screenshots of messages he sent to another friend, including one that said “Goodbye, I’m going to prison for vehicular manslaughter” and another that said “goodbye” with a photo of his truck’s dashboard and a view of the club.
They also showed the club’s surveillance footage and the truck’s dash came video showing the crash.
Fogle is being held without bond.
