More details continue to emerge as loved ones search for a Virginia nurse who hasn’t been seen in weeks.
As CrimeOnline previously reported, Bhaytt, a pediatric nurse at UVA Health Prince William Medical Center, was last seen in Manassas Park on July 31. She unexpectedly stopped her daily routine of calling her mother in Nepal daily to discuss the everyday details, which is unlike her, according to family members.
Mahesh Kafle, her brother, along with other supporters, spoke to The Washington Post to keep the case in the public eye, sharing new details about the timeline of her disappearance.
By August 1, she failed to show up for work. The next day, a Manassas Park police officer conducted a welfare check at her home but left when her husband declined to report her as missing, according to a police statement.
Despite this, her family still had no communication with her. On August 4, her brother pleaded with his brother-in-law to contact the authorities.
On August 5, Mamta Kafle Bhatt’s husband reported her missing, triggering a police search that had already been initiated by family and friends.
“We’ve lost days and days and days,” Crime Stories host Nancy Grace said during an episode dedicated to finding Bhaytt.
Manassas Park Police Chief Mario Lugo confirmed Bhatt’s husband reported her missing on August 5. When asked about the delay in reporting her missing, the husband told WUSA 9 that that was a question for police.
Meanwhile, according to the Washington Post, loved ones recalled a disagreement that led Bhatt to move in with friend Sarita Neupane Neupane for a week. The cause of the argument between the couple remains unclear.
Another friend, Nadia Navarro, told Grace that she recalled the husband being controlling and “constantly” calling her when Bhaytt wasn’t home.
“He would call me on my phone constantly, and text me constantly,” Navarro, who temporarily lived with the couple, said. “He started to kind of control where I would go, too. At one point, I wanted to take Manta to an Indian store…..He wouldn’t really let her leave the house that was any further than five minutes.”
“He started calling us frantically and started yelling at me to turn around…I thought maybe he was worried for her.”
Bhyatt’s husband has not been named a suspect.
She’s described as standing 5 feet tall and weighing around 130 pounds. Anyone with information on her whereabouts is urged to contact Manassas Park police at 703-361-1136.
