A Massachusetts husband and father disappeared during vacation at South Carolina’s Hilton Head Island, his family said.
WRAL reports that Stanley Kotowski, 60, was last seen leaving his rental Friday at Sea Pines Resort. The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office stated that he was barefoot and without personal items, including his phone or wallet.
The search for Kotowski involved deploying police K-9s, helicopters, drones, and boats. South Carolina authorities urge people in the area to review their home security cameras to help determine his whereabouts.
“He just walked out the door. He had really bad insomnia for about a month. This is a brand new thing. He doesn’t have dementia. His anxiety just kept getting worse and worse and worse, and he started to get a little paranoid,” his wife, Jackie Kotowski, said. “He thought someone was chasing him.”
According to the sheriff’s office, Kotowski was seen on Ring camera footage wearing a gray Coors Light shirt and dark-colored shorts. He is about 6 feet tall, weighs 200 pounds, and has brown hair and eyes.
According to ABC 22, he has a “thick Boston accent.”
“And you’re not in trouble, Dad … we love you,” his son, Zak Kotowski, said. “Come home, we just want you home.”
Anyone with information on Kotowski’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.
