Soldier Husband Arrested, Family Pleads for Answers as Pregnant Teen Remains Missing

The husband of a pregnant teen is in military custody as the search continues.

Mischa Johnson, 19 and six months pregnant, vanished from her home at Schofield Barracks, O’ahu, Hawaii, on July 31. The Army’s Criminal Investigation Division (CID) received the report the next day.

Her husband, Private First Class Dewayne Arthur Johnson II, is currently behind bars in connection with her disappearance but has not yet been officially charged, USA Today reports.

“An individual has been placed into military custody in the Mischa Johnson missing person case. Mischa Johnson’s husband, Private First Class Dewayne Arthur Johnson II, is currently in military pretrial confinement in Hawaii,” Army’s 25th Infantry Division said Monday.

Johnson’s sister told Island News that she was surprised to learn her sister’s husband is being held behind bars.

“Just this whole situation has been extremely scary for us,” Marianna Tapiz said. “And we just truthfully, we never saw this coming.”

“They were very affectionate towards each other. PDA levels like through the roof, I mean they were all over each other. It’s very concerning that he’s the prime suspect.”

Family members, however, also said the husband “strung them along” and pretended to help as Johnson remained missing for weeks.

Johnson is described as standing 5 feet, 2 inches tall and weighs around 170 pounds. She has a large dragon tattoo on her back.

“Our efforts remain focused on locating Mischa, support to her family, and the safety and security of all personnel at US Army Hawaii installations,” Army officials said. “This is a current and ongoing investigation and no further information is available at this time. We encourage anyone who may have information regarding Mischa Johnson to contact CID.”

The Army CIS announced a $10,000 reward for information related to the case. Anyone with information should contact the Army CID (808)-208-0059,
