Non-Custodial Mom Kidnaps 4-Year-Old Child, Leads Cops on High Speed Chase

A 33-year-old Colorado woman assaulted a caseworker supervising her visit with her 4-year-old child on Wednesday, kidnapped the child, and led police on a reckless high speed chase through residential streets and US Highway 50 before officers pinned her car against a hillside.

Canon City Police said they were called to the scene by the Department of Human Services caseworker, who related the events that had just taken place, KRDO reported.

Officers tried to stop Ashley Procter but she refused to stop and led officers through the streets of the city and onto US50. When she tried to drive onto Skyline Drive on the north side of the city, officers conducted a PIT maneuver and pinned the vehicle on the steep hill.

Procter, the child, the caseworker, and a 9-month-old puppy in Procter’s vehicle were all treated for minor injuries.

Police said the child had recently been removed from the mother’s custody over safety concerns, KKTV reported.

Proctor faces 17 charges, KRDO reported, including attempted murder, attempted assault, assault, kidnapping, child abuse, reckless endangerment, cruelty to animals, and multiple traffic charges.
