Bond was set at $1 million for a man linked to the death of a baby found dead in a Connecticut motel on Wednesday.
According to the Hartford Courant, Dale Kirkland, 31, checked into the Milford Motel with the baby on Tuesday but left alone the following day. Staff was cleaning the vacant room when they reportedly found the baby deceased in the bathtub.
Bridgeport and Milford Police, in addition to Connecticut State Police, apprehended Kirkland later that evening.

An arrest warrant for Kirkland is sealed for 14 days, meaning details surrounding the baby’s death are scarce. According to CT Post, guests at the motel said they first noticed a baby was living there with a man about three weeks earlier.
A guest who was staying next to the room where the baby was discovered said they overheard running water on Tuesday evening, CT Post reported.
Court records stated that Kirkland had filed for custody of his 4-month-old daughter, and a case regarding the matter was continued to August 28. However, it is currently unclear if the baby found dead in the motel room is his child.
Kirkland is charged with risk of injury to a minor and cruelty to persons. Police said he could face additional charges in the future.
