Police in New Jersey are searching a suspect in the stabbing of a 4-year-old at a home in Paterson Friday afternoon.
Investigators says the girl’s aunt is wanted in the attack, which saw the little girl stabbed multiple times. She was rushed to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center, where she was said to be in stable condition after surgery for a punctured lung, punctured liver, and damaged diaphragm, WABC reported.
Investigators said the stabbing took place in the backyard of the home while the child’s mother was inside with another child.
Neighbors said they saw the mother carry the girl out of the house, covered in blood.
Officials said there had been some kind of dispute in the house prior to the stabbing.
The names of the suspect and victim have not been released.
