A North Carolina woman wanted for the murder of her mother has been caught in Asheville and taken into custody.
Danya Dewey, 40, has been charged with first degree murder and is being held at the Buncombe County Detention Facility without bond, WLOS reports.
Sheriff’s deputies were called to the home of Lori Pallinger, 63. in the Black Mountain area on Thursday morning and found Pallinger dead, as CrimeOnline reported. Neighbors reported hearing gunshots the night before, but police have not revealed any details about Pallinger’s death except saying they were looking for Dewey.
Sheriff’s office spokesperson Christina Esmay told WLOS that Asheville Police officers located Dewey’s car later Thursday night and convinced her to get out of the car just after 9 p.m.
Dewey is expected to make her first court appearance on Monday.
