Shooting on I-95 Bridge Kills Man Connected with Deaths of Woman, Child

Police shot and killed a man, suspected of killing his wife and an 8-year-old child, on the Interstate 95 bridge between Maine and New Hampshire early Thursday morning.

The names of the suspect and victims have not been released, but officials said the man apparently killed his wife at a home in Troy, New Hampshire, overnight and then drove nearly two hours to the Piscataqua River Bridge, connecting Portsmouth, New Hampshire, and Kittery, Maine, where law enforcement engaged him, WFXT reported.

After the man was shot to death on the bridge, law enforcement officers found the child’s body in his vehicle, dead from gunshot wounds, according to New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office.

Authorities from both Maine and New Hampshire are investigating, with Maine officials handling the officer-involved shooting. The bridge has been closed in both directions, and motorists diverted to local bridges, for the investigation.
