A California man was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly kidnapped his sister’s 4- and 6-year-old children and led officers on a short chase.
The man, who has not been named, “spontaneously” told officers “that he wanted to take the children to heaven” after he was taken into custody.
Upland Police said they made the stop after receiving information from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, which said the mother had told deputies her brother had taken the children, and she feared he would harm them.
The children were unharmed but were taken to a hospital for an evaluation as a precaution.
The department did not say what, if any, charges the man faces.
