Kara Welsh, 21, was killed just before midnight at her apartment less than amile from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater campus, WISN reported.
A 23-year-old man was arrested at the the apartment, Whitewater Police said, saying the two had an altercation before the shooting. Charges have been referred to the district attorney’s office, but the man has been neither named nor formally charged.

“There are no words to describe the void we all feel in our hearts, but Kara’s legacy will live on through Warhawk gymnastics forever,” said her college coach, Jen Regan.
