Anna Delvey, also known as Anna Sorokin, has joined Season 33 of “Dancing With the Stars” with pro partner Ezra Sosa.
Despite wearing an ankle monitor, Sorokin reportedly received special permission to participate in the show. AP News reports that her spokesperson, Juda Engelmayer, confirmed that Sorokin can travel within 70 miles of her home and throughout New York City’s five boroughs under her house arrest conditions.
As CrimeOnline previously reported, Sorokin, 33, was arrested in 2017 for defrauding banks, hotels, and friends of over $250,000 by posing as the daughter of a German oil tycoon.
After her release from prison in February 2021, immigration officials detained her, alleging she overstayed her visa and should be deported to Germany. She remained in ICE custody for over a year until a judge allowed her to move to home confinement in October 2022, while she contests the deportation case.
Since then, Sorokin has been wearing an ankle monitor.
Meanwhile, the New York Post reports that Delvey said that she plans to discuss with her lawyers the possibility of filing a motion to replace her ankle monitor with a VeriWatch wrist tracker.
She has succeeded with previous requests, including petitioning the immigration judge to lift her social media ban, arguing it infringed on her free speech rights.
In addition to “Dancing with the Stars,” Sorokin is also working on a fashion business “with Cutrone called OutLaw Agency,” according to the Post.
