A newlywed Michigan couple has been arrested and charged in connection with a crash that killed a groomsman in their wedding.
The Flint Police Department said they were called to a “pedestrian injury crash” in the city on Friday at about 8 p.m. and found Terry Lewis Taylor Jr., 29, severely injured. He was taken to Hurley Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators learned that he was a groomsman in a wedding earlier in the day and was involved in an argument that “led to him being intentionally struck by a large SUV that was travelling at a high rate of speed and driven by the groom.”
The groom, 22-year-old James Shirah, has been charged with second degree murder and is being held without bond. His bride, 21-year-old Savansh Collier, was charged with accessory after the fact and ordered held on a $4,000 bond.
No details of the argument or Collier’s after the fact involvement were released.
The two were arraigned on Tuesday, and Collier was released on Wednesday, The Detroit News reported. They are due in court again on September 12.
