Sex Offender Says He Was Trying To Be ‘Friend’ to Child He Molested

A sex offender in Missouri was charged on Thursday with sexually abusing a child over a two-year period.

KMIZ reported that a victim told police last month that William Pilger Jr., 64, sexually assaulted them several times between April 2019 and April 2021. Pilger allegedly admitted to possibly touching the victim, but he claimed he was trying to be a “friend.”

Despite having a 1994 conviction for first-degree sexual abuse, KMIZ reported, Pilger was working for a place that offered swimming lessons to children.

Pilger is charged with statutory sodomy of a child younger than 14 years old and second-degree child molestation of a child younger than 12 years old. He was ordered to remain jailed without bond.
