Interstate 75 in eastern Kentucky has been reopened after it was closed for several hours when a gunman opened fire on vehicles traveling the highway.
The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office identified 32-year-old Joseph Couch as a person of interest and cautioned people not to approach him. Couch is considered “armed and dangerous” and still at large, the sheriff’s office said.
The sheriff’s office first reported the gunfire just after 6:30 p.m.
A Kentucky State Police spokesman told the Louisville Courier Journal there were four to six victims but did not have additional information.
The highway is shut down near Exit 49 in Laurel County, near US 25.
Multiple agencies have responded, including the federal Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives.
