Law enforcement is on the hunt for a California elementary school teacher who missed his court date for charges of lewd and lascivious acts with a child.
Steven Carl Schapansky, 54, of Santa Barbara, California was due in court on Friday in Santa Barbara County to face charges of two felony counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14 and 70 misdemeanor counts of electronic peeping according to KTLA 5.
Schapansky was an elementary school teacher at a Santa Barbara charter school teaching 5th and 6th grades. Some of his students were said to be victims of the allegations Schapansky faces, which are capturing footage of minors while they are undressing.
Fox 26 News reports that Schapansky was last seen Wednesday in Fresno riding a 2021 blue Honda Monkey motorcycle with a California license plate 25H7377. He is described as 6’2” tall 210 lbs, with blue eyes and blonde hair, possibly wearing a blue polo shirt, shorts and white shoes.
While Schapnasky is a Santa Barbara resident, he is said to be staying in Fresno. Law enforcement believes Schapnasky could be heading to Yosemite Park.
Anyone who sees him or has any information is asked to contact the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office at 559-600-3111. You can also call Crime Stoppers at (559) 498-7867.
