On Friday, the Brighton Police Department on Colorado announced a suspect in the homicide of his 2-month-old child.
ANV Denver 7 reported that on August 17, police responded to a call about a baby not breathing at an apartment complex on South 18th Avenue around 3:30 p.m.
“Officers arrived within minutes and immediately began administering CPR,” police wrote on social media.
“The baby was transported to the hospital by medics but passed away eight days later on August 25. Due to the developing and fluid nature of the investigation, this information was not released immediately. This investigation is ongoing and continues to evolve, and no further information will be released at this time.”
At the time of the infant’s death, it was ruled a homicide. Police detained Donnie Casados, 31.
Casados is currently in custody on unrelated charges. The 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office will decide on charges once the case is filed.
This is an open investigation. Anyone with information is encouraged to call Brighton PD at 303-655-8740.
