An 8-year-old Ohio girl hopped in the family SUV Sunday morning and drove herself to a Target store, where she went shopping.
Bedford Police said they found the girl inside the store in Bainbridge after her parents reported the girl and their vehicle missing, WOIO reported.
The trip took the girl about 24 minutes, and she told police she’d hit someone’s mailbox along the way.
Bedford Police were called to the home at about 9 a.m., WOIO said, and put out a “be on the look out” for the girl and the vehicle. Neighbors provided officers with doorbell camera video that showed the girl climbing in the SUV and driving away.
Bedford Heights police reported getting a call about a vehicle matching the description with a small child at the wheel, but officers were unable to locate it at that time. Traffic cameras spotted the vehicle traveling east on a road near the Target and a Walmart Supercenter.
Bainbridge Police then reported finding the SUV in the Target parking lot.
The parents were called to the store to retrieve the child and the vehicle. No charges will be filed, WJW reported.
