A man on the run after allegedly killing the mother of his children at a birthday party for their oldest child is now behind bars.
Court documents say Jalen Whitlock, 25, and her boyfriend were throwing a birthday party for her 6-year-old on September 12 when Jalin J. Foreman, the father of both of Whitlock’s children, arrived, KHOU reported.
A witness told police that Foreman, 27, arrived in a Chevrolet Tahoe, got out, and started screaming at toward the townhome. He fired at the home, as Whitlock screamed that she wasn’t “scared of you.” Forman left and came back moments later, yelling We’re going to end this now” before fleeing the scene.
Houston Police responded to a 911 call and found Whitlock in the doorway of the home with multiple gunshots. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The court documents say the entire episode was captured on surveillance video.
Whitlock’s boyfriend told police that Foreman had tried to come to the party to drop of gifts, but Whitlock told him he wasn’t welcome. He showed up anyway, and the boyfriend answered the door, finding Foreman putting gifts at the door. The children came to pick up the gifts, and he and Foreman got into an argument.
Foreman taunted him, the boyfriend said, and threatened to shoot him. Foreman went to his vehicle, and the boyfriend said he believed he was retrieving a gun, so he picked up one of Whitlock’s guns. When Foreman returned, the boyfriend said, he opened fire. The boyfriend said he returned fire.
He said he shut the door and turned around to find Whitlock on the floor with gunshot wounds.
Foreman was arrested Monday afternoon and charged with murder.
