An 43-year-old Ohio woman pleaded guilty Tuesday to felonious assault for shooting her 6-month-old granddaughter in the eye in December.
The baby survived the shooting. In exchange for her guilty plea, prosecutors dropped charged related to assaults on other family members on December 9, 2023, Law&Crime reported.
As CrimeOnline reported, Harris was charged with intentionally shooting the infant just before 2 a.m. that night. She fled the scene but was arrested after witnesses identified her as the shooter.
According to the criminal complaint against her, Harris fired at other family members and “knowingly” caused “serious physical harm” to another victim by “striking [that person] in the face with a fist,” Law&Crime said.
When she was taken into custody, police asked why she shot the baby and she replied, “That was not my grandbaby. Sorry, not sorry,” according to testimony at a probable cause hearing earlier this year, WCPO reported.
Sentencing has been set for October 29. Harris faces 15 years in prison.
