On Thursday, a Florida judge denied bail for two suspects who allegedly trafficked two girls who vanished from a foster home last month.
Palm Beach County police reportedly rescued the two girls on Wednesday after one of them was seen leaving the home with a suspected human trafficker. Faith Slayton and Michael Steinmetz were arrested in connection with the trafficking ring — which the judge described as the worst he had ever seen, according to WPEC.
An arrest affidavit stated that one of the victims was spotted getting into a vehicle after a cash transaction. The car was stopped on the highway, allowing officers to place the girl in protective custody. Then, they learned about the other girl who was being hidden in a home, according to WPEC.
Both victims allegedly told authorities that they were given Molly (MDMA), Flakka (alpha-PVP), and marijuana in exchange for sex.
WPEC reported that Steinmetz and Slayton are charged with human trafficking of a minor. Steinmetz is also charged with sexual battery of a minor, while Slayton is also accused of interfering with the custody of a minor. They are due back in court next month.
