Retired Police Chaplain Accused of Raping 8-Year-Old Girl Dozens of Times

A retired Indiana police chaplain has been arrested and charged with molesting an 8-year-old girl.

A probable cause affidavit said that Sylvester “Leroy” Driscoll, 73, sexually abused the girl more than 100 times since she was 5-years-old, WISH reported.

Court documents said the girl told  a school counselor about the abuse in August after her teacher noticed that she was was exhibited signs of sexual abuse, including complaining of irritation and pains in her privates, walking bowlegged, and soiling herself, WXIN reported.

The girl told investigators she was forced to watch porn at age 5 and that Driscoll threatened to “throw away her toys” if she told anyone of the abuse, the court documents say. The girl also said there could be a second victim.

Police confronted Driscoll on Wednesday with the allegation, but he declined to speak without a lawyer. He was arrested on a preliminary count of child molestation. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will determine final charges.

Driscoll was a chaplain at the Southport Police Department but retired several years ago and worked as a civilian employee for more than 20 years with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, leaving the department in 2019.
