Four people in Michigan have been charged in connection with the death of a woman found dead in a Detroit alley.
A vehicle was found burned and abandoned several blocks away, and that was linked to a call about an auto theft with shots fired in Dearborn earlier this month, Dearborn Police said.
Dearborn Police responded to that call early in the morning on September 8 and learned that Mohammed Haitham Ahmad and Ali Haitham Ahmad had fired at a vehicle they thought was being stolen from their property.
Investigators learned that Shaid Al-Aziz Muhammad was behind the wheel of the vehicle and was shot and wounded. A passenger, Paige Marie Knox, was shot and killed, while a second passenger, Ebony Aaron Pugh, was not hit by the gunfire.
The prosecutors said that Muhammad drove to Detroit, where they disposed of Knox’s body in an alley, and then apparently drove several more blocks and abandoned the vehicle there, setting it alight.
All four were arrested on Thursday. The Ahmads were charged with second degree murder, manslaughter, and felony firearm. Muhammad and Pugh were charged with unlawful driving away in an automobile, concealing a death, and arson. They were not charged with auto theft.
“This is a terrible tragedy for all involved. While gun ownership is a protected right it comes with great responsibility,” Dearborn Police Chief Issa Shahin said. “I extend my sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.”
The four men were arraigned on Saturday. Muhammad and Pugh were each given a bond of $250,000, while the Ahmads were ordered held without bond. All four are due in court again on October 2.
