JAIL TIME FOR NIGERIAN SEXTORTION GANG AFTER SUICIDE OF ‘ALL AMERICAN’ TEEN

CRIME Stories with Nancy Grace

An investigation into the suicide of a popular high school athlete uncovered an international sextortion ring.

On Twitter, Jordan Demay was contacted by a user named Dani Roberts, who persuaded him to send explicit photos. Soon after, “Dani Roberts” demanded money, threatening to share the photos with Jordan’s family and friends. Despite sending all the money he had, the threats continued. Six hours later, Jordan took his own life.

After his death, Jordan’s girlfriend received one of the explicit photos and alerted police. Detectives from the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office, working with the FBI, traced the IP address of “Dani Roberts” to Nigeria. Three Nigerian men—Ezekiel Robert and brothers Samuel and Samson Ogoshi—were linked to Jordan’s case and over 100 other victims.

Five U.S. citizens have been accused of facilitating the sextortion scams by handling payments and transferring money to Nigeria. Prosecutors say the defendants laundered nearly $200,000 for the scammers. A jury has found them guilty, and they have been sentenced to prison.
