Texas Man Charged With Shooting Grandparents to Death

A 21-year-old Texas man has been charged with murder after his grandparents were found shot to death inside their south Austin home on Saturday.

Austin Police said they received multiple calls just after noon on Saturday to check on the welfare of Anthony Maxa, 76, and Shari Mallory-Maxa, 74, KXAN reported. The callers also said that the couple’s grandson, Chevy Kyler Monaghan, was at the home and refusing to allow anyone inside to see the couple.

Officers arrived and found Monaghan in the driveway. He told those officers that his grandparents were inside and were unharmed.

Officers went inside, however, and found the couple dead.

Further investigation determined that Monaghan was the killer. He was arrested and charged with capital murder of mulitple persons and is being held without bond, jail records show.
