An Alabama man has been charged with murder in the death of a 27-year-old Birmingham woman who was found dead last week.
Tremayne Dawon King, 34, was booked Tuesday for the murder of Maria Juan, whose family reported her missing early Friday morning, according to WTVM.
Her body was found at The Hillside apartment complex Friday afternoon. She had sustained injuries from an assault, Birmingham Police said.
Police said King was Juan’s ex-boyfriend and the father of her child.
Juan’s mother, Zenobia Aqeel, told WTVM that King had threatened to kill Juan “plenty of times” in the past.
“I told my daughter, I said, ‘Be very careful because he says he’s going to kill you,'” she said. “She said, ‘No, he’s not.’ I said, ‘Yes, he’s going to try. He’s going to try.'”
King is being held without bond, WBRC said.
