Texas Pediatrics Assistant Charged With Molesting Children in His Care

A Texas pediatrician’s assistant was arrested earlier this month and charged with indecency with a child.

Little Spurs Pediatric Urgent Care in Irving contacted police in August after learning that Angel Nunez, 25, had allegedly had inappropriate contact with multiple children, KDFW reported.

“These patients believed they were receiving a medical exam and were not aware at the time that they were being abused,” Irving Police said in a news release.

An arrest warrant for one of the incidents says that Nunez gave a 14-year-old boy a hernia exam for a sports physical and touched his genitals. Nunez was not trained for such an exam nor was authorized to give it.

“Part of his duties were to take vitals and stuff, but he was not a physician himself,” said Irving Police Det. Andy Padrutt.

Padrutt said that investigators have three victims and believe their were more. The three range in age from 9 to 15, KTVT reported.

Nunez was working at the Irving office until August, when he was fired , and he previously worked in Little Spurs clinics in Grand Prairie, Arlington, and Fort Worth. Investigators say he worked at other clinics before Little Spurs.

“We recently learned that an employee conducted a medical procedure beyond their scope of practice and outside of our established guidelines,” Little Spurs said in a statement. “As soon as we were made aware, we promptly reported the incident to Child Protective Services, launched an internal investigation, and terminated the employment of the employee in question. Law enforcement is continuing to investigate the former employee, and we are fully cooperating with their investigation.”

Nunez posted a $100,000 bond and was released from jail pending trial.
