A 23-year-old New Hampshire man was arrested Saturday for the beating death of his grandmother.

Authorities said state troopers were called to a home in Easton just before noon and found 76-year-old Cynthia Lanchester dead on the ground, with obvious blunt force trauma they said was caused by a hammer, Boston 25 reported.

The troopers also found Joshua Lanchester on the scene and formally arrested him later that day. He has been charged with second-degree murder.

Lanchester is being held without bond pending his arraignment on Monday.

Investigators have not said what led up to the murder.
