An Oklahoma child shot and killed another child after finding a loaded, unsecured gun in what the adults claimed was a “safe space.”
The child who killed the other child was taken into custody but later released after police decided it was an “accidental shooting,” according to KJRH.
Police also found what they called a “suspicious item” on the scene and called the bomb squad in to investigate, but no further information has been released.
The Sand Spring Police Department said no charges were being filed “at this time,” including against the adults who said the gun was in a “safe place,” KOTV reported.
Police also did not say how hold the children involved were or whether any adults were at the home at the time of the shooting.
