Arizona Man Guns Down Mom of 3, Waiting at Bus Stop to Go to Her New Job

An Arizona man has been charged with first degree murder after surveillance cameras showed him firing 38 rounds from a long rifle at a woman waiting at a Mesa bus stop.

Andrew Rada, 44, claimed that his victim, 52-year-old Michelle Flippin, was “waving a chrome handgun while talking out loud” as “multple people” ran from her. He claimed he took his rifle and shot at Flippin 15 to 20 times until she “went down” then drove away.

The surveillance video showed that Flippin was dropped off at the gas station where Rada had been parked and walked to the bus stop, a probable cause statement says. She was the only person near the bus stop and was smoking a cigarette with her back to Rada when he killed her. There was no gun found near her body, chrome or otherwise.

Investigators found nearly 40 spent shell casings. Rada got into his truck after the murder and drove away but was quickly stopped by police.

Flippin, a mother of three, was pronounced dead at the scene, KPNX reported.

“Our rock, our protector, our mother was taken from us,” Flippin’s children said in a statement. “She was on her way to get her new job going when this tragedy happened. She was minding her own business. She certainly did not deserve this.”
