A Michigan doctor who was arrested in August for secretly filming women and children was charged on Thursday with sexually abusing a 5-year-old girl.
Dr. Oumair Aejaz allegedly filmed himself molesting the child, who authorities believe is not his only victim. In addition to filming patients — including children — without their consent, Oakland County police said Aejaz recorded himself sexually assaulting unconscious hospital patients, according to the Detroit Free Press.
The alleged crimes involving the girl, who is now six, transpired in Novi between 2023 and 2024. WJBK reported that Aejaz previously worked at Ascension Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc Township and Henry Ford Macomb in Clinton Township. Police noted that he had privileges at those hospitals but was not staff.
Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald said Aejaz’s wife tipped off investigators about her husband’s alleged crimes. The wife provided materials that led police to seize electronic items belonging to the doctor, the Free Press reported.
Aejaz is also believed to have hidden cameras in changing rooms, bathrooms, closets, and bedrooms. WXYZ reported that one of the devices seized by police contained 13,000 videos.
“We know that there are additional victims, and we ask anyone with information to contact the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office,” McDonald said.
Aejaz was arraigned on charges of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, second-degree criminal sexual conduct, aggravated child sexually abusive activity, and using a computer to commit a crime. He remains jailed on a $2 million bond.
