Chanti Dixon gets off work after midnight Sunday morning and immediately orders an Uber to run a quick errand before heading home.
At the drop-off location, Chanti asks the driver to wait for a moment, saying she’ll order a second ride home after completing her errand. The driver agrees, and Chanti orders the second ride. A few hours later, her family realizes she never made it home, and her mother isn’t answering her phone either. After 24 hours without contact, the family reports her missing and goes to her home to search for clues.
Inside, a family member finds Chanti’s Apple Watch, which shows her phone is still pinging nearby. The family walks toward the phone’s location, arriving at a wooded area about two blocks away.
As they search the area, Chanti’s mother, Rise Dixon, doesn’t find her daughter’s phone but sees what looks like a crumpled figure behind a concrete barrier. Upon getting closer, Rise realizes it’s a woman lying on her stomach, her head covered with a sweatshirt, naked from the waist down, and unresponsive.
Fearing the worst, Rise calls 911. Investigators later discover the woman died from a single gunshot wound to the temple. Rise identifies the woman as her daughter, Chanti Dixon.
