Heat of Passion? Dad Kills Man He Found in Car With 14-Year-Old Daughter

An Arkansas man was charged with first-degree murder for fatally shooting a man who was reportedly found with his missing 14-year-old daughter earlier this month.

On October 8, Lonoke County police responded to reports of a missing girl. Responding deputies then learned that the girl’s father, Aaron Spencer, discovered her in a vehicle with 67-year-old Michael Fosler — sparking an altercation that ended with Fosler’s shooting death, KARK reported.

The girl’s mother said on Facebook that there was an active protective order against Fosler as he was accused of stalking and raping her daughter this past summer. Lonoke County Sheriff John Staley confirmed to USA Today that Fosler was arrested in July for internet stalking of a child and sexual assault.

The girl’s mother said she was unaware her daughter was back in contact with Fosler, who died at the scene. Authorities said the teen girl is safe, according to THV.

Spencer was released on a $100,000 bond a day after the October 8 shooting. Staley explained to USA Today that the murder charge is preliminary and not official.

“I don’t file charges,” he said. “We’re going to get this wrapped up as expeditiously as we can, and get the file faxed and over to the prosecutor so he can make an informed decision.”
