Delphi Murders Trial: Defense Drops Crime Scene Visit, Judge Weighs Sketches Ruling

Special Judge Frances Gull decided to hold off on deciding a key motion in the Delphi murders trial until Friday morning.

On Thursday, Judge Gull told prosecutors she needed additional time to evaluate their request to block the jury from seeing  police sketches used before Richard Allen’s arrest.

As CrimeOnline previously reported, Allen is accused of killing Abby Williams, 13, and Libby German, 14, in February 2017. His arrest came n October 2022.

On Tuesday, prosecutors filed a motion seeking to exclude the sketches from the trial, claiming they are “not relevant” and could “confuse or mislead” the jury, WISH-TV reports.

Judge Gull will consider the request and deliver her ruling before opening statements.

The defense dropped its request for jurors to visit the location near the Monon High Bridge.

Previously, the defense argued that jurors needed to view the site in person, but prosecutors raised objections, citing safety concerns and changes to the area.
