A Colorado man was convicted this week of killing his wife and infant son and sentenced to two life sentences.
David Weingarten, 31, was found guilty on Wednesday of two counts of first degree murder, child abuse, and reckless endangerment, KXRM reported. He was sentenced the following day.
Police responded to Weingarten’s Colorado Springs home on February 1, 2021, and found Lizet Salinas, 26, and 8-month-old George Weingarten shot dead, as CrimeOnline reported. The couple’s 2-year-old daughter was also at the home but was not physically harmed.
Weingarten told arriving officers that he’d shot his wife and son and had “been feeling not good lately and something just came over me.”
“I don’t know what happened,” he reportedly said. “I’ve been hearing things, and I don’t know what’s going on.”
He also reportedly said that the baby’s crying made him anxious.
