A 15-year-old boy has been charged with killing a 13-year-old girl found dead on a Tennessee neighborhood trail.
Knox County deputies were called to the scene in the Powell community’s Broadacres subdivision shortly before 5 p.m. on Tuesday, WATE reported.
Around 11 p.m., Sheriff Tom Spangler announced the boy had been arrested and charged with second degree murder. The two knew each other, he said, but their identities have not been released.
“I’m not going to give any names out. I’m asking that you all give this family some time,” Spangler said. “Just out of courtesy, I’m not going to give a name. I think they deserve that.”
The sheriff said two people found the the body while walking the trail, often used by neighborhood kids to reach a nearby gas station, WBIR said,
Spangler said that investigators are still looking at the case and that more charges are possible.
